Sharpak Announces New Meat Tray Design

Plastic packaging manufacturer Sharpak has announced a new family of meat trays designed to provide benefits across the entire supply chain.

The new packaging solution is designed specifically in response to the pressure which the UK food industry has felt this year and the subsequent need to use innovative practices to provide packaging which is evolving, creative and cost-effective.

Nick James, sales and marketing director of Sharpak Bridgwater and Sharpak Yate, says,  “It has become more important than ever that innovative packaging solutions are designed to meet the changing wants and needs of all those across the supply chain. Firstly, this means taking a cost-effective approach to packaging, for example simplifying the use of trays in meat processors and pack houses can aid cost reduction through the supply chain.

“In addition, meat processors, retailers and end consumers are demanding improvements in the industry to provide products with a lower environmental impact. By eliminating the guesswork from plastic packaging supply, Sharpak is delighted to be able to react to these demands while adding to its range of industry leading products.”

The new family of trays from Sharpak incorporate a rib design which enables the products to be up to 10 per cent lighter than the industry average without compromising on strength and durability.

This latest design from Sharpak also includes a new denest design compatible with all denest machines in the industry, meaning the cost of substituting for alternative products are kept to a minimum. The new base design also ensures the tray can work on all conveyors without risk of product damage.

Nick James says, “The new meat tray design is a direct result of investment made by Sharpak’s parent company, Groupe Guillin, which is a clear demonstration of their commitment to the UK market.”
