Sanitary Disc Pumps
The SP Series of Sanitary Disc Pumps are manufactured to meet 3-A and international hygiene standards, as well as USDA requirements. The pump line can handle highly viscous fluids, abrasive fluids, fluids with stringy solids, slurries with high levels of entrained air, and shear sensitive and delicate products. The pumps can also be used for applications involving sensitive foodstuffs such as corn, soft fruits, sugar crystals, and fish.
The system incorporates non-impingement pumping, a design based upon a series of parallel discs that rotate inside the pump. When the fluid begins to flow, a boundary layer forms. As the discs rotate, energy is transferred to successive layers of fluid molecules via the principle of viscous drag, which pulls the product through the pump. The pumps come in a variety of models and sizes, which can achieve flow rates of 23000 GPM and discharge pressures up to 800 feet.
