Patented lid-hinge system.Koch's ingenious hinge system allows the motion profile of the lid to descend vertically and remain perfectly aligned with the chamber throughout each cycle. This perpendicular alignment minimizes stress at the hinge/lid connection, which, in turn, maximizes the useful life of the chamber lid. This unique hinge system also allows the lid to swing outward as it opens to a full 45° for maximum access to the chamber.

Injection molded from high-tech, engineered composite. Space-age, engineered-resin composite materials in the Ultravac 225's chamber lid, basin and chassis are amazingly flexible yet virtually indestructible. This composite was developed with input from a Technology Transfer Program between Koch and the U.S. Department of Energy. Both lid and basin are smooth and seamless with large radius corners for easy, thorough cleaning and inspection.
