Hatfield CEO Phil Clemens Named Knowlton Award Winner

Chicago, IL - Phil Clemens, chairman and CEO of Hatfield Quality Meats, has been selected to receive Meatingplace magazine's 2007 Richard L. Knowlton Innovation Award, which honors excellence in the U.S. meat industry in the areas of innovation, business success, leadership, and industry contributions according to Meatingplace magazine's.

It is believed to be that Clemens is not only being honored for Hatfield's stellar financial performance during his tenure, but for his lasting industry contributions in the areas of food safety, animal handling and water conservation. "Clemens has been a true pioneer in animal handling," says Meatingplace Editor John Gregerson. "His passion for the humane treatment of animals has inspired countless peers, including past Knowlton winner James Stonehocker, COO of Odom's Tennessee Pride. He has also been a tireless meat industry advocate, having served as chairman of the American Meat Institute, as well as holding other key positions with industry organizations."

According to sources as recipient of this year's Knowlton award, Clemens was selected from a field of several prominent executives, all of them nominated by their peers, customers or associates. Finalists were screened by a panel that included prior Knowlton Award winners.
