Cantrell Intl. Div. of A.C. Horn

Cantrell International a division of A.C. Horn, is like an oak tree. Our roots are deep and broad with our customers benefitting from the knowledge, experience and dedication of our four families: Chandler, Bauer, Manley and Cantrell.

Our heritage begins in 1875 when the Chandler Company was founded by brothers Joe and Clarance Chandler in Bridgewater, Massachusetts. At first, the Chandlers made boiler plates for the burgeoning post civil war industrial revolution. Then, in 1910, Clarance invented a new type of cottonseed huller for use in the oil seed industry. This huller was such an advancement that another company, Bauer, commissioned Chandler to manufacture hullers under the Bauer name. Chandler became known throughout the world for his invention and improved versions are still in use today.

The Bauer Brothers Company was founded in 1878 in Springfield, Ohio, as a manufacturer of hull beaters, shakers, meal grinders, and separators...everything for the cottonseed industry except for a huller.

For a century, Chandler and Bauer manufactured and installed the equipment for entire cotton seed processing lines. In the 1920's, Bauer also expanded into manufacturing equipment for the nut industry, making roasters, blanchers, mills, coolers, etc. The Bauer philosophy was that if you manufacture one machine for a customer, you should be able to provide an entire processing line. Cantrell carries on that very philosophy today with our own complete peanut, popcorn and cottonseed processing systems.

The Manley Company was founded in 1923 in Kansas City, Missouri, by Julian R. Burch and Charles T. Manley for the purpose of manufacturing and selling popcorn poppers. For the next 70 years, Manley was a leader in providing popcorn poppers and popcorn supplies to theaters and candy counters worldwide. In the 1950's Manley began developing a full line of snack food processing equipment for the production of popcorn, caramel corn, extruded snacks and corn products.

In 1999 Cantrell International was aquired by A.C. Horn and Co. The Cantrell International Division of A.C. Horn now offers its costumers conveying, custom sheet metal fabrication and packaging equipment as well as its complete nut and snackfood processing lines of equipment.
