Cal-Maine Foods Forms Joint Venture Egg Operation

Cal-Maine Foods, Inc., Jackson, MI has announced that Cal-Maine Foods, Sunbest Foods of Iowa, Inc. and Olson Farms, Inc. of California have formed a joint venture company to construct and operate an egg production and marketing facility in Delta, UT.

The new company, Delta Egg Farm, LLC, will begin construction by the end of August and the first egg production will begin in the first half of 1999 with a completion date of 2002.

When completed, the operation will have 1.5 million laying hens, pullet growing facilities, in-line egg processing and a feed mill. Eggs from the new facility will be marketed in the intermountain region, California and the Pacific Northwest.

Cal-Maine Foods, Inc. is primarily engaged in the production, cleaning, grading, packing and sale of fresh shell eggs and the manufacture and sale of egg products.
