Eaton Introduces Corrosion-Resistant Nickel-Plated Motors

Eden Prairie, MN - Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation has added a selection of factory nickel-plated models to its Char-Lynn line of spool valve motors. The new motors, available in the Char-Lynn H Series, S Series, and T Series, are ideal for food and beverage industry applications and other freshwater wash-down applications in which corrosion protection is critical.

"The entire body of the motors undergoes an electrolytic-plating process that meets food and beverage industry standards," said Jason Dalebroux, Eaton Hydraulics Operations product manager - Char-Lynn Motors. "Many customers have been using third-party sources to nickel-plate standard Eaton Char-Lynn motors for these applications. Now they have a source of factory-plated motors covered by the Eaton Char-Lynn standard warranty and with a 15-day delivery lead time."

Spool valve motors distribute fluid into and out of the Gerotor (H Series) or Geroler® (S and T Series) orbit gearset through valve slots machined into the output shaft. This design combines valving and hydrodynamic journal bearings into a common shaft design. These motors provide high torque at low speeds, and offer instant shaft reversal by simply changing the direction of input/output flow through the motor.

Additional benefits of spool valve motors include high efficiency, high power-density, infinite bearing life at rated loads, extended shaft seal life, smooth operation and outstanding economy. Standard Eaton Char-Lynn spool valve motors are used in a wide variety of applications including agricultural equipment, machine tools, conveyors, winches, turf care equipment and construction equipment, in addition to the food and beverage processing applications for which the new, nickel-plated models are intended.
